Thirteen tracks of noisy, blasting grime from Nashville TN.
Woundflower has bloomed from the corpse of Bled To Submission, and with their debut cassette they dug deep and and have crafted an album that reveals not just the influence of grindcore and metallic hardcore icons, but some of the harder to classify, less genre-confined greats of the mid to late 90s and early 00s. I heard sections that reminded me of often overlooked gems like Ice Nine, Iabhorher, and Dazzling Killmen. To my ear, "Misery" sounds like something that might have been on Resevoir Records in 1998, or a Willowtip band that might have preferred touring with Anodyne, Keelhaul, or Today is The Day instead of their brutal or technical death metal peers.
This three piece have done something special and worth repeated listens - avoiding riff-o-rama territory by building thoughtful, succinct songs that pull from their wide variety of interests and influences. I enjoy this one a lot, and I hope you can sink yor teeth into it as well.
